The Maple Leaf Free Yard Sale event began in 2021 when one family wanted to give away all their spring cleaning items at one time. After sharing the idea to their local Buy Nothing Facebook group, others were interested in doing the same. That first event had 23 households holding "sales". The next summer, it was requested to happen again, and is now an annual event.
2024

Location(s): Maple leaf neighborhood--loose boundaries of I-5 to Lake City Way from NE 75th St to Northgate Way/110th.

Highlights: We cracked 100 "sales"--the most yet! Participation and interest continues to grow.

Highlights: The website MapleLeafFreeYardSale.com was born, promoting the event beyond the Buy Nothing groups. Some "sales" expanded offerings to include food, drinks, and treats.
